About Wesley
Wesley grew up on 100 acres in upstate New York. One of nine siblings, he spent hours fencing with sticks and building elaborate imaginative worlds with his brothers. (It’s not a proper fantasy world if it doesn’t have an in-depth cosmology and defined magic system.) Imagination is an integral part of his approach to life and teaching, and he has loved getting to bring that to his work at Riverside.
Music has also been a constant part of Wesley’s life. Growing up, dish washing and meal prep often had a four-part a cappella improv soundtrack as the siblings wove harmonies on the fly. Few things bring Wesley as much joy as singing together with a group. That love of music led him to pursue his BME from Wheaton College, graduating in 2011.
During and after college, Wesley was extensively involved in Christian Youth Theater as a teacher and director. He also continued to hone his performance skills in dozens of productions at various professional and semi-professional theaters, including a short stint with the Florentine Opera in Milwaukee. Favorite roles include Charles Darnay in Tale of Two Cities and Toad in A Year With Frog And Toad, both at Overshadowed Theatrical Productions. (If he ever gets the chance to play Chauvelin or Javert one day, he’ll jump at it.)
After a few years working at Greenhouse Christian Co-School in Wheaton, Wesley joined Riverside in 2019, where he leads the Second Year boys in Tutorial. Through his time at Riverside, he has developed his love of creative storytelling—especially through the role playing game Honor Bound, which he designed.
Wesley has also loved developing his skills as a craftsman, designing and building sets for multiple Riverside shows, as well as leading other hands-on Guild projects like leather working and weaponry.
In his spare time, Wesley calls Contra dances, practices archery, crafts tabletop terrain, and tries to get his wife interested in Twilight Imperium. (She remains skeptical of the 12-hour game time.) He also attends Church of the Resurrection and serves on the worship team there. Wesley is married to Anna and is a very blessed father of three (Beckett, Lynnea, and Audra).
Wesley is grateful for the opportunity to serve and lead the boys at Riverside, and he looks forward to the next adventure.
